Police arrested and charged a 34-year-old Mountain View woman with first-degree assault, first-degree assault on a police officer and a quarantine violation for separate incidents on Aug. 12.

According to County Prosecutor Kelden Waltjen, Maria K. Coyaso was free on court-supervised release without monetary bail at the time of her arrest in connection with felony charges in two unrelated matters.

First-degree assault is a Class B felony with carries a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment upon conviction, while assaulting a police officer is a Class C felony that carries a potential five-year prison term. Coyaso, who was in custody in lieu of $15,500 bail, was scheduled to make her initial appearance Friday in Hilo in Hilo District Court.
